We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester. Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work. It's all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day. We're always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work life balance.
About the role…
This is an exciting opportunity for two officers to join Gloucester City Council on a project aimed at sustainably resolving street based anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the City Centre.
Gloucester proudly bursts with history and vibrancy; various events, festivals and an ever expanding selection of food and drink venues make it an enjoyable place to live, work and visit. Gloucester’s city centre in particular, houses several attractions including Gloucester Cathedral, the historic docks and Blackfriars Priory to name a few.
The two successful applicants will be visible in the heart of the city in order to build important relationships with the local community including businesses, residents and visitors, as well as working alongside our key partners, notably the Police and Solace.
The main area of focus will be begging and street drinking but also to lead on wider street based ASB issues which can often be rooted in substance misuse. The officers will work within the Council’s ‘engage, support and enforce’ approach.
What we need from you…
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication and co-ordination skills to lead the Street Aware partnership in complex decision making on when enforcement action versus support is needed for each individual, topic or location. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of anti-social behaviour legislation and have experience in implementing ASB powers or have worked in a closely linked field. Experience of working and developing partner relations, as well as being able to demonstrate a good understanding of multi-agency partnership working to achieve sustainable solutions is imperative to this role. We are looking for a candidate who can prioritise their own workload, be able to creatively problem solve and work successfully within a team.
