About Gloucester City Council

We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester.

The city is diverse, with communities known for coming together in both times of need and times of celebration. We want everyone to be proud of where they live and make sure no-one gets left behind, and we’re always looking for people who share that vision.

Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work. It’s all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day.  We’re always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work life balance.

Being in the centre of the city comes with the added bonus of being within walking distance of transport links, shops, sporting facilities and a wide variety of places to eat. There’s also the Cathedral, Kings Square and the bustling Gloucester Docks, as well as green spaces, parks and a nature reserve for a slice of tranquillity.

We don’t just have our main office either. Our staff run some of the popular venues and attractions we have in the city, like the Museum of Gloucester and the Gloucester Guildhall. And we also provide community-based services like the crematorium and Shopmobility.
