We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester.
Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work. It's all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day. We're always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work life balance.
About Us:
Gloucester Guildhall is looking for a 22 hour week Food & Drink Shift Leader to join the team. Located in a Grade II Listed Building in Gloucester city centre, Gloucester Guildhall presents a variety of events, from live music and comedy, to immersive performances and workshops. With 6 spaces available to hire for meetings and conferences and a beautiful cinema, no one day is the same. With a commercial kitchen and two bar openings, the Guildhall Café/Bar facilitates a food and drink service that caters for all aspects of this cultural venue.
About the Role:
Gloucester Guildhall is a vibrant, multi‑use venue that operates seven days a week in line with our cultural programme. Depending on the schedule, the building can open from 8:30am and remain active late into the evening—sometimes until 10pm, midnight, or even the early hours.
In this role, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team of casual and agency staff, providing leadership, direction, and hands‑on support. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant sale of alcohol across our bars, as well as overseeing food preparation and service within our catering offer.
Your shifts will vary between daytime and evening work, giving you the chance to support a wide range of activities. One day you might be preparing a buffet for corporate clients, the next you could be serving drinks and snacks to cinema audiences, or helping deliver a fast‑paced bar service for 400+ attendees at one of our live events. Every shift brings something different, and your contribution will help ensure our visitors have a great experience.
About You:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Food & Drink Shift Leader to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of our food and drink services, working frontline, ensuring high standards of customer service and efficiency. You will be confident, pro-active and take initiative when leading a shift. You will pay attention to the small details that make a big difference and you will be able to adjust swiftly to changing situations and handle unexpected challenges with ease. You will bring energy and enthusiasm to your work, motivating those around you. You will work to annualised hours, therefore flexibility is essential - one week you may work slightly less hours and the next slightly more - all to meet the needs of our programme of events.
What we can do for you…
When working with us, you will receive the following:
- Flexible working opportunities
