About:  Gloucester is City which is proud of its trees.  The City Council is committed to developing and maintaining its tree stock in order to maximise the many, diverse environmental and aesthetic benefits provided by trees.   


As our Environment Officer (Arboriculture), you will work closely with other members of the open spaces team and the Council’s planning team.  You will be responsible for the inspection and management of the Council’s tree stock and delivering the Council’s statutory duties in respect of tree protection. You will be managing the Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and Conservation Area (CA) systems, including compliance and enforcement where breaches occur. You will also provide expert professional advice on all tree related issues in respect of planning applications.


Skills: The ideal candidate will have significant experience of tree assessment and maintenance.  You will have experience of work related to planning legislation pertaining to trees & landscape within the local government and commercial context. You will be forward thinking and innovative, working flexibly to provide great services to meet personal, organisational and customer expectations.   You will have experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders including residents and Members
