Accessibility Statement

Gloucestershire County Council is committed to making its website(s) accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to https://careers.gloucestershire.gov.uk/.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

(a) non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • A “commuting times map” link that opens an image with no accessible text alternative (WCAG 1.1.1).
  • Some older PDFs have not yet been replaced with accessible versions that are checked for compliance with accessibility guidelines (WCAG 1.1.1, 1.3.2, 1.4.1, 1.4.3, 1.4.5, 2.1, 2.4, 3.1, 3.2).
    • E.g. the “Benefits” leaflet linked from some job adverts has non-compliant reading order and several images which have not been appropriately tagged as decorative. The document also has numerous other issues flagged by the Adobe Acrobat compliance checker which will need to be assessed – some with manual checks.
  • Some minor HTML validation issues. However, this is very unlikely to affect assistive technology (WCAG 4.1.1 - removed from WCAG 2.2).

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 22 January 2024.

The initial assessment was carried out by the Cabinet Office using Deque Axe and other tools to review a selection of pages on the site which are listed in their report with the issues found that do not comply with WCAG 2.1 AA.

This report was shared with the site developers who corrected the issues found and followed up with a further assessment by the Gloucestershire County Council Digital Team once issues listed in the Cabinet Office report had been addressed.

This follow-up confirmed that the issues had been fixed but discovered the minor issues described in the “non accessible content” section.

The statement was last reviewed on 22 January 2024.
