The Audit Risk Assurance (ARA) Shared Service provides internal audit, counter fraud and risk management services across our partners (Gloucester City Council, Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council and Ubico Ltd).

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Trainee Internal Auditor.

As a Trainee Internal Auditor, you will be a key member of the ARA team focusing on Internal Audit and assisting in providing clients with independent assurance on how effectively they identify and manage risk.

You should hold a degree or have equivalent specialist knowledge (please see the job profile for minimum criteria). You will be naturally inquisitive, thinking laterally and creatively, using your judgement to present balanced findings and persuasive recommendations for improvement. Communication skills are important, as you will have exposure to officers at all levels within the ARA partners and clients. As an innovative individual you will demonstrate excellent team working skills, be personally resilient, be able to build positive business relationships and be committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Local government experience would be welcomed, but is not essential.

We strive to provide imaginative yet pragmatic advice and solutions, derived from an understanding of our partners’ needs. This is made possible by the quality of our people and our depth of expertise at all levels, so it’s a great team to join.

So what can we offer you?

We offer an excellent pay, reward and training support package including:

  • Full support in completion of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification, both financially (covering student membership, books, workshop and exam costs) and with time off for study
  • Allocation of a mentor to each Trainee Internal Auditor to support their progression as an Internal Audit professional
  • Competitive salary and pension
  • Good annual leave entitlement (starting at 24.5 days per year pro rata)
  • Flexible working arrangements, that support work life (and training) balance

The Trainee Internal Auditor post provides an excellent opportunity for you to train for an internationally recognised qualification and professional career in the public sector within a dynamic, forward thinking and supportive team.

The knowledge and experience you will gain will support your development and provide a clear career path within ARA working towards a Senior Auditor role.

If you are interested in coming to work for a diverse and interesting team, please get in contact and submit an application.
