Are you a qualified Best Interests Assessor with management skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent post as a Lead Specialist Practitioner in Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team at Gloucestershire County Council.


About the role:


The Safeguarding Adults Team co-ordinates and leads on adult safeguarding and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).  The team works with statutory partners and voluntary organisations across Gloucestershire.

We are looking to recruit a Lead Practitioner to support and lead the Specialist Practitioners in the DoLS team, working to ensure that people’s Article 5 rights to liberty are upheld. The Lead Practitioner will also assist the Head of Safeguarding Adults in preparing for the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards, the replacement for DoLS. This is a new post which reflects the growth in the team as we prepare for the new challenges and opportunities ahead.

About you:


We are looking for someone who is highly organised, enthusiastic about change, and able to motivate and influence others. You will have the ability to travel throughout the county (and occasional out of the county travel may be required too).

You must have:

  • Best Interest Assessor qualification
  • Considerable experience of completing health/ social care assessments
  • Significant experience of working with adults without capacity to make decisions as described by legislation
  • Proven experience in leadership and management
