Part-time Library Assistant wanted for Stow-on-the-Wold Library.
About the team and the Role
We’re excited to offer a part-time opportunity to join our dedicated team at Stow-on-the-Wold Library. As a Library Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of a vibrant community space, helping to deliver essential services and engaging activities to people of all ages.
This is a fantastic role for someone who is enthusiastic, community-minded, and eager to contribute to the development and daily operations of a much-loved local library.
As a Library Assistant, you will:
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the library.
- Provide friendly, helpful service to all visitors.
- Assist customers with borrowing, digital resources, and public computer use.
- Deliver and support a range of events and activities — from early years sessions like Rhyme Time to digital skills workshops and local history talks.
- Promote library services and contribute to new community-focused initiatives.
- Work on alternate Saturdays as part of your regular schedule.
We work on a two-week timetable. The hours for this role are as follows:
Monday 9.30-5 (week 1 only)
Tuesday 10-7 (week 1) and 9.30-7 (week 2)
Wednesday 9.30-5 (week 1 and 2)
Thursday OFF
Friday 10-7 (week 2 only)
Saturday 9.30-2 (week 1 only)
About You
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Confidence using ICT systems and helping others with basic digital tasks.
- Experience working with the public, including children or community groups.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- An understanding of the important role libraries play in local communities.
