This key post will oversee the strategic development of the Educational Psychology Service in Gloucestershire and will provide professional management and leadership to our team of Senior Educational Psychologists.


With the ability to work across organisational boundaries and actively engage in joint working across the Local Authority, Education, Health and Parent Carers Communities, you will ensure an integrated approach to timely, holistic and needs-led support.


You will:

  • manage the Educational Psychology budget and continue to develop a traded offer that ensures the best use of resources.
  • work proactively across SEND services to build capacity in schools and provide effective support for all children and young people (0-25), particularly those with SEND needs.
  • Contribute, when appropriate, to the Local Authority response to critical incidents and service redesign.
  • ensure an offer of support to our Children in Care population through provision of high quality advice to schools and other direct providers.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • substantial experience as a Senior Educational Psychologist of at least five years
  • managed teams at a senior level and lead complex areas of work
  • worked at a senior level within a Local Authority
  • managed and supervised educational psychologists and multi-disciplinary professionals to develop their professional practice
  • experience of driving change across services and within a variety of educational settings to better outcomes for children and young people
