About the Role & Team
We are looking for a highly motivated and competent person to join our Performance and Improvement Management team.
We are a central support service within Gloucestershire County Council. You will be responsible for performance and improvement for 2-3 areas of the organisation. You will work closely with senior leaders to develop or enhance performance frameworks which aid strategic and political oversight and decision making, and effective operational delivery.
Successful candidates will also play a pivotal part in supporting the service in its readiness for inspection from a performance perspective and in actions arising from inspection outcomes relating to performance. Good project management skills and professional curiosity relating to processes and performance will be essential in this role.
About You
This job suits people who are calm, organised, persistent and can think strategically.
You will need to be a creative problem solver and have a 'can do' attitude, considering new angles and approaches to tackling problems. It is important to understand the work that our services do, to identify key lines of enquiry and areas of concern within performance data. To do this, being a quick learner with a curious and interested mind will be critical.
We are looking for confident, enthusiastic people to join us. You will need excellent engagement and communication skills, to enable you to work closely with direct reports, stakeholders and senior leaders. You will also need to be diplomatic, personable, assertive and able to challenge appropriately, to support strong independent assurance and governance relating to data and performance.
Established experience in understanding strategic performance and of business improvement is essential. Experience of managing a team is desirable. You will need to have a proven track record of delivery that is at pace, on time, to a high standard and which has had a tangible impact in improving team delivery, business processes and performance outcomes. Work in this team is fast-paced, we therefore place focus and value on people employing proven resilience and decompression techniques to support a healthy balance.
Experience of LEAN methodologies, Excel and Power BI is essential. Experience of Power Query and Cloud/Desktop Flows would be beneficial.
