Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) Casual/Supply Teacher – GCSE Maths, English and Science

Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) is a registered PRU (Ofsted Outstanding School 2016/17) educating young people who are medically unable to attend school and supporting school-aged mothers during their maternity leave. We are looking for casual tutors in all of the core subjects who are happy to work flexibly, have hours increase and decrease according to demand, and who are happy to work part days.  We would need availability of at least 3 days to make it viable.

We require experienced, capable specialist teachers to work either peripatetically across the county and/or to teach on-line lessons either from home or at GHES Outpatients.  During the year the number of students we receive into GHES rises and falls, and we are looking to add to our pool of casual teachers who are willing for their work to follow a similar pattern.  We find during the first few months (Sept/Oct) demand is less.  It gradually increases towards Christmas, and tends to reach a peak around March to June.  After Year 11 start their exams we find demand drops dramatically, and we re-prioritise teaching back to our permanent teachers.

Teaching is mostly online delivery but also includes some face to face in the home or at our outpatients classroom in Cheltenham.

Candidates will need to hold a full driving license and have use of a car. We require all staff to have business insurance for their car.

We work on a claims basis.  Staff claim for hours taught, given ppa and travel time, and also claim their mileage.  Full training and induction package given.

It is essential in your application that in the ‘relevant experience’ you also include why you are applying to work for GHES, alongside your other experience. We welcome applicants with a secondary or primary background in teaching.
