We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team to lead the delivery of a community equipment loan service on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council and One Gloucestershire.

 

 

About the Role:

 

Gloucestershire Equipment Loan Service (GELS) plays an important role in supporting the care sector in Gloucestershire, delivering community equipment on behalf of Health and Social Care to residents in Gloucestershire.

 

The service also provides supported employment opportunities for people with disabilities who experience substantial barriers to employment.

You will ensure high standards of service in the established aspects of the service and also focus on nurturing new and innovative approaches which help improve the lives of people living in Gloucestershire.

 

What we need from you…

 

We need your people skills and customer-focussed nature to help build successful working relationships with all stakeholders. We need your business acumen and strong budgetary skills to discharge the budget holder responsibilities of a significant shared budget. We need you to be experienced and competent in all aspects of procurement. We need you to be able to design and implement strategic business plans for a diverse, county wide service.

You will work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Adult Social Care Support Services & Business Development and the existing management team at GELS to ensure there is an effective and efficient community equipment service delivered in Gloucestershire.

 

The responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Determine the objectives, priorities and standards for the service in accordance with the Council’s and partners plans and strategies       
  • Lead and manage a range of functions to ensure improved customer outcomes in a cost effective way
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with partners, providers and customers to ensure business continuity
  • Develop strategies to ensure that the business focus is on the Council’s aim of supporting disabled people in the community
  • Ensure that cost control/income generation is maximised to ensure sustainability of the business
  • Be responsible for managing the service and Community Equipment budgets
  • Keep up to date with new developments and best practice in the field of disability support and assist in the improvement of disability practice in employment within GCC and other partner organisations

 

This is a great opportunity to lead an established and supportive team, making a difference to people in Gloucestershire. Our teams include customer service, warehouse, transport, logistics, equipment refurbishment and finance & administration and provides supported employment for people with disabilities who experience substantial barriers to employment.

About You:

 

We are looking for someone who has experience leading and managing a team. The ideal candidate will have experience of:

 

  • Business management at a senior level
  • Designing and implementing business planning processes
  • Managing integrated budgets
  • Working with other local authorities, national organisations and government departments
  • Significant experience of managing a supported employment service
