About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and skilled manager to join our Registration Service team as a Senior Registration Officer. This is a pivotal role acting as a Statutory Officer on behalf of the Registrar General and the County Council. The role ensures the accurate and professional registration of births, deaths, and marriages and compliance with legislation and local policies. A Senior Registration Officer is a key part of the management team and is responsible for staff training, quality assurance, stock control, policy and procedure development.  You will work closely with three other Senior Registration Officers and lead a team of approx. seven Registration Officers. The role will be based at Cheltenham or Gloucester Register Office (this will be discussed further at interview). About You

We are looking for a candidate who has people management experience and has worked in a pressurised, frontline environment providing excellent customer service. Experience of dealing with customers in different emotional situations and managing feedback is essential. The ability to lead and support staff through change is essential.  A background in medical, legal, proofreading or similar environment is desirable as well as experience in training, mentoring, or public speaking. You will bring exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills. You must be able to explain complex technical or legal information in a way that is easy to understand. You will lead by example, displaying the councils’ values and behaviours framework and be resilient, flexible, and self-motivated.

Special Conditions

To provide out of hours support, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays as and when required to assist the service. There is a shared early phone rota to ensure cover is arranged in event of staff absence. You need to hold a current full driving licence which is valid for driving in the UK as you will be required to travel to Approved Premises and Registration Offices throughout Gloucestershire.
