Watching someone achieve the remarkable. Giving someone quality time and support. This is why we do it. This is why we care.

As part of our Adult Social Care team, amazing moments like these will be part of daily life as you support those who need us most. What’s more, you’ll help us take our service to new heights. Add to that an array of brilliant benefits – including an employee assistance programme, cycle to work scheme and staff discounts – and you’ve got a rewarding role in every sense.

About the role

As a Respite Services Coordinator, you’ll be part of a dedicated team at one of our short break units. The service is designed for adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs, who may display behaviours that challenge. Each unit provides 24-hour care for planned, unplanned and emergency stays. In this highly rewarding role, you’ll create a positive, caring and stimulating environment that meets every guest’s needs.

The goal is to make sure guests enjoy fulfilling and dignified lives – and you’ll play a big part in that. Guided by care plans and risk assessments, you’ll help them with personal care and medication, leading shifts as the Shift Lead if required. Our guests will be relying on you to give your best, so we’ll make sure you get expert support and training.

About you

As well as an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification, you’ll have hands-on experience of working with people with learning disabilities. With this background, you’ll be used to administering medication and helping individuals with personal care. Practical and positive, you’ll manage your own workload and work as part of a team. With every opportunity to learn, you’ll also be keen to develop and take our service from strength to strength.

You’ll join us on a shift basis, which will include every other weekend and sleep in duties as required. Please note that you must be flexible to help out at other locations when required.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do and how we treat each other. They provide essential guiding principles about the way that we work and set the tone for our culture, and identify what we, as an organisation, care about. Read more about our values on our website.

If you hold the same behaviours and approach, then we want to hear from you! In exchange, we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed in your role.

About us

It’s a fantastic time to join Gloucestershire County Council, as we transform our Adult Social Care services. Through our team, we’re helping people with increasingly complex needs to remain independent and have a say in how they live. To succeed, we need people who’ll go the extra mile to see others well and happy and give families peace of mind. People who know that caring is the most rewarding feeling around.

Join us, and you’ll have a great opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives. Meanwhile, we’ll thank you with a range of excellent benefits and give you the training and support to develop your career. We genuinely care about our colleagues and support their wellbeing.
