Driver Support - Corporate Fleet Unit 

 

As a member of the Corproate Fleet Unit Equipment Team based at the Tri Centre Workshops, you will contribute to the high standard of service of the fleet of vehicles and equipment for Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service (GFRS) and Corproate Fleet Unit (CFU).

 

Driver required to assist in the moving of vehicles for the Corporate Fleet Unit. You will be required to drive a vast array of vehicles across the GCC and GFRS locations as well as collection/delivery from various manufacturers dealer outlets. You may also be required to clean vehicles where necessary as part of the role. Part time employment would be considered.


You will carry out vehicle collection and delivery duties for both GFRS and Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) as well as conduct basic preventative maintenance and repairs on a vast array of vehicles across the GCC and GFRS locations. In accordance with manufacturer guidelines to ensure legal requirements are met and agreed standards are maintained. You will also have responsibility for conducting basic maintenance on some fire equipment, finishing to the required standard as well as maintaining relevant records and job cards for any basic repairs.


You will receive daily management supervision from the Equipment Technical Supervisor and as required instruction from the Workshop Technical Supervisor. Overall Management Supervision will reside with the Corporate Fleet Operations Manager.


You will help to build relationships across all teams within Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Services, Corporate Fleet Unit, and the wider Gloucestershire County Council organisation.
You will support the Corporate Fleet Unit Fleet Operations Manager to deliver projects and tasks. 

 

 

This is what we need you to do...

• To deliver, collect and assist in recovery of all vehicle types, from various locations daily and as required for the Corporate Fleet Unit, including Fire and Council vehicles.

• To swap equipment on vehicles, changing over from one vehicle to another, this would include Fire vehicles with various pieces of equipment. 

• To conduct basic repair and maintenance activity on vehicles and or equipment, such as ad-blu top up, screen wash, bulbs etc.

• To clean vehicles thoroughly as part of a regular routine to uphold vehicle image and as part of pre-maintenance inspections. 

• To follow set Fleet tasks as determined by Line Manager.

• Responsibility to ensure accurate work and time records are maintained, using both paper and computer-based systems.

• Responsible for ensuring high quality standards are maintained

• To actively participate in maintaining the workshop and workshop equipment in a safe, clean, and tidy order.

• To undertake those duties which support the achievement of the Council’s equal opportunities objectives, with particular reference to the targets/positive actions included in the annual Positive Action Plan and aspects of service delivery.

 

Special Conditions

 

We would ideally require a HGV class 2 (Cat C) driving license but minimum would be Cat B  car and small van.

 

Weekly working hours will be 08.00-16.00 Mon-Thursday 08.00-15.30 Friday
