About the team/role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lawyer (Team Leader) to join Legal Services within the Corporate Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer to manage our friendly and collaborative Infrastructure Hub. Alongside management responsibilities you will provide essential legal advice, guidance and representation to the Council on a wide range of matters relating to planning and highways legislation.

(1) Effectively manage and support a team of planning & highway lawyers and legal assistants.
(2) Negotiate, draft and review s106 obligations, s38 & 278 agreements alongside other planning and highway agreements.
(3) Provide high level advice on planning, highways, public rights of way, traffic regulation orders, commons and town and village greens.
(4) Attend committee meetings and provide legal training to members and officers.
(5) Handle contentious work such as planning & highway enforcement, appeals, inquiries, judicial review and statutory challenges.
About you
We are looking for a candidate who displays professionalism, excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to the needs of the client and work under pressure, whilst remaining positive and solutions focused. In addition, an enthusiastic team player, interested in building positive relationships within the team and client departments, who is also confident, independent and comfortable recognising and managing corporate risk.
You will be able to carry your own caseload of complex matters alongside supporting the Infrastructure Hub.
