We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, self-driven individual, to join our high impact Thinktravel team, as we accelerate our service delivery to meet the Council’s expanding Active Travel, Road Safety, Health and Net Zero commitments.
Thinktravel are an integral part of the Traffic and Transport service, within the council’s award winning Environment, Economy and Infra-structure Directorate, with Gloucestershire County Council.
We are seeking a School and Active Travel Co-ordinator.
About The Team & Role:
The Thinktravel team is dedicated to integrating active travel (walking and wheeling) into our daily routines, which we believe makes for healthier, safer, greener, and more active sustainable communities, across Gloucestershire. We do this through the delivery of our core services, School Crossing Patrols, and Bikeability, alongside an expanding Active Travel behaviour change programme.
This role is pivotal in leading the School Crossing Patrol Service alongside delivering and promoting priority educational active travel and road safety initiatives accessible to all, which aim to create new active travel habits with a focus on the school run and onward commute.
About you:
You will be an experienced team manager, with strong organisational, analytical and relationship management skills which allow you to prioritise workloads and ensure service levels are maintained and improved. To be successful, you will be adaptable to change especially in response to sensitive road safety concerns and changing political landscapes.
Using your understanding of local government educational institutions, you will be able to build rapport and effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders and cross sector service partnerships.
Being an excellent communicator, influencer and creative thinker, you will be leading on developing and delivering practical innovative active travel engagement activities with schools, workplaces and communities.
Summary:
If you have the skills and experience to co-ordinate and work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting active travel education and behaviour change services and initiatives, plus the passion and drive to make a real difference we want to hear from you.
Your work will include:
Co-ordinating the Thinktravel's School Crossing Patrol Service across Gloucestershire's County Council school sites and associated walking initiatives.
Support the Thinktravel service in delivering existing and new sustainable and active travel initiatives with partner organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors, with a focus on education.
Acting as a positive advocate for change with a diverse group of stakeholders including Schools, Gloucestershire's Road Safety Partnership, Modeshift, Active Gloucestershire and Move More.
Using experience in project and event management, governance/stakeholder engagement together with marketing & communications to design and deliver walking and wheeling events linked to curriculum-based learning, travel planning, road safety and behaviour change.
