We are growing our team and have three new full time Support Officer positions in our Safeguarding Adults Team, based in Gloucester.

 

The team plays an important role in protecting adults in Gloucestershire who are at risk of abuse or neglect. We co-ordinate and lead on all safeguarding concerns received by Gloucestershire County Council, working with partnership organisations.

 

 

About the role:

 

These exciting new roles will work alongside specialist Safeguarding Practitioners and Screening Officers in our Safeguarding Adults Team. The main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our Screening Officers to screen and triage safeguarding referrals when they are first received into our team.
  • Supporting our Safeguarding Practitioners by gathering information from multi-agency partners, family members and members of the public where relevant, to inform the safeguarding decision making process.
  • Communicating with our extensive multi-agency network, including the Police, Health and Social Care and voluntary organisations, to support adults who are at risk of abuse or neglect.
  • Attending multi-agency safeguarding meetings to share information relevant to the safeguarding concern.
  • Promoting person-centred outcomes for the adults we are supporting.

The Safeguarding Adults Team is based at Shire Hall in Gloucester where we offer agile working which includes working from home combined with time in the office. We provide free off-site car parking.

 

This is an exciting time for the Safeguarding Adults Team as the Safeguarding Support Officer is a brand new role. The successful candidate will contribute to the future developments of the Single Point of Access and the screening and triage of safeguarding referrals.

About you:

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in the health and social care sector.
  • Understanding of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act and codes of practice.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in writing.
  • Confidence dealing with a range of queries from internal and external customers.
  • Experience of gathering information and using it to inform decision making.
  • Good IT skills, for example Microsoft Office.
  • Good attention to detail in maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Ability to identify and assess high risk situations.
  • Ability to work flexibly across the different areas of the team to meet the service need.

 

The position will suit an individual who enjoys a fast pace, has a positive ‘can do’ attitude and uses their initiative.

 

You must hold a clear and valid driving licence (exceptions under the Equality Act may apply) or have the ability to travel around the county.
