About the team & role:
We are looking for a permanent SHE Technician to join the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team at Gloucestershire County Council. This is a fantastic career-grade opportunity for a graduate or individuals eager to develop into a health and safety practitioner. Whether you are new to the field or have a keen interest in health and safety, this role offers the chance to work within a large and diverse organisation.
The SHE team provides health and safety advice to the council and schools that use our service. We also regulate sports grounds to ensure spectator safety. As a SHE Technician, you will provide technical support to assist safety management and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the council. Your responsibilities will include implementing safety management solutions to gather and analyse health and safety data, assist and support incident management processes and the investigation of accidents and incidents, assessing risk and risk assessments, reviewing educational visits and assist in the preparation and implementation of SHE training and briefings.
You will work closely with experienced health and safety professionals, gaining valuable on-the-job training and development opportunities, whilst completing globally recognised qualifications for occupational health and safety management professionals over defined periods. Upon successful completion of training and development, satisfactory progress in the role and demonstrating appropriate values, you will be eligible for salary progression and be able to apply for an Advisor position in the SHE team, should one be vacant.

About Us
This is a job that will invole hybrid working. Time will be split between working remotely and coming in to Shire Hall for meetings and collaboration work. This will require good organisational skills and be flexible, balancing sevice need and individual choice for a healthy work/life balance. You will be provided with equipment necessary, but a suitable place and environment to work remotely is required.
