Giving a family a much-needed break or supporting someone with their independence.

THIS IS WHY WE DO IT, THIS IS WHY WE CARE.

As part of our Adult Social Care team, you’ll have a chance to make a real difference to the lives of those we come into contact with. It’s a chance to take our service to new heights. Add an array of brilliant benefits – including local government pension scheme, employee assistance programme, tax-free childcare, and staff discounts – and you’ve got a rewarding role in every sense.

About the Role:

As a Night Support Worker, you’ll play your part in helping people lead fulfilling, dignified lives. Based at our Respite centre in Gloucester and also supporting in Cheltenham and Stroud, you’ll provide excellent care for adults with learning disabilities during the night. Working alongside Respite Coordinators and Respite Managers, you’ll keep an eye on, and support guests’ health and wellbeing, as well as administering medication. Meanwhile, we’ll give you all the support you need to thrive in your role.

With a commitment to quality, you’ll be careful to follow care plans, risks assessments, policies and procedures. You’ll also encourage people to make their own care choices and be as independent as possible. Plus, you’ll spot opportunities to take our service from strength to strength. You’ll be integral to our team, and your contribution hugely valued.

You’ll join us on a shift basis, working waking night shifts. You will be based at one of the following locations but you must be flexible to help out at other locations when required.

  • Gloucester: Cathedral View, Archdeacon Street, Gloucester, GL1 2QX
  • Cheltenham: The Vicarage, 59 Andover Road, Tivoli, Cheltenham, GL50 2TS
  • Stroud: Longhouse, 6 Whitehouse Park, Stroud, GL5 4LD

About You:

It goes without saying that you’ll be approachable and have excellent communication skills, but you’ll also show compassion and respect to everyone you meet. With your flexible and warm approach, you’ll be confident working with a diverse range of people with different needs. More than that, you’ll maintain integrity in everything you do, always communicating with sensitivity and empathy.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do and how we treat each other. They provide essential guiding principles about the way that we work and set the tone for our culture, and identify what we, as an organisation, care about. Read more about our values on our website.

If you hold the same behaviours and approach, then we want to hear from you! In exchange, we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed in your role.

About Us:

It’s a fantastic time to join Gloucestershire County Council, as we transform our Adult Social Care services. Through our team, we’re helping people with increasingly complex needs to remain independent and have a say in how they live. To succeed, we need people who’ll go the extra mile to see others well and happy and give families peace of mind. People who know that caring is the most rewarding feeling around.

Our Offer:

You’ll be entitled to our full benefits package, including:

  • 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
  • Membership of a Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Free offsite car parking
  • Safe, supportive and positive working environment
  • Regular formal and informal support
