About the team & role

We are looking for three candidates to join our busy team.

Are you looking for a new challenge within a busy team working on a children’s file review and destruction project?

Due to a moratorium put in place for 6 years from 2016 by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) the council was prohibited from destroying any council records relating to children, their protection and care.  This means the Records Centre now holds in excess of 70,500 physical files requiring review and/or destruction following the conclusion of IICSA . As a confident communicator, you will establish strong working relationships with the Records Centre team while completing this project.

You will perform a variety of duties within the team including processing file retentions and disposals, including the physical destruction of files; retrieving and returning files; and updating the records database to reflect these actions.

This is an exciting opportunity which will give you a wide breadth of knowledge of the structure of the council and how it manages its children’s and education records both in electronic and physical form.

About you
We are looking for someone enthusiastic and target driven to contribute to the successful completion of this project.  To be successful in this role you will need experience of working on a file archiving or management project and strong communication skills.  We also need you to be highly organised, with excellent ICT skills and an attention to detail.

Working with us

For all your hard work, you will receive the following:

  • Flexible and agile working opportunities

  • 25.5 days annual leave

  • Family friendly employer offering benefits to help support you and your family
