This is an exciting time for a talented, self-driven professional to join us in the role of Quality Engineer within the Street Lighting service as we take forward Gloucestershire’s 2050 Vision. We are leading the way in challenging conventions around the reallocation of road space, creating walkable neighbourhoods and delivering green infrastructure with low carbon design.
Our street lighting team are at the heart of this work, ensuring that street lighting improvements on our highway infrastructure are delivered in a sustainable manner that contribute to our ambitious carbon reduction goals
About the role
This is a pivotal role where you will have a responsibility for overseeing the quality of completed street lighting and electrical works associated with our Term Maintenance Contract, Major Highway Improvements Programme and for Road Safety Highway Improvements
You will also have responsibilities for the co-ordination of third-party inspections for development led work within the county, ensuring compliance with internal Service Level Agreements for completion of inspections and for quality of workmanship/ compliance to specification by third parties.
A further requirement of the Quality Engineer will be to co-ordinate and undertake Health and Safety Inspections for street lighting and electrical works at live constructions sites and to be responsible for ensuring Highway Electrical Association, sector scheme compliance for the client team.
This role also involves representing GCC in negotiations and discussions requiring excellent communication and political awareness.
About you
You will have a wealth of street lighting and electrical experience particularly in the practice of quality audits and inspections. You will have previous supervisory experience and will play a key role in liaison with various internal and external stakeholders ensuring that all new electrical and street lighting installations meet with recommended standards, professional best practices and internal specifications and policy.
