About The Role

 

Working as part of the Council’s Strategic Procurement Service, you will help shape and develop improved outcomes.

This is one of several posts in the Strategic Procurement Service that work flexibly to support the Procurement needs of the Council.  Success will depend on developing critical relationships at all levels, particularly with directors, lead commissioners, contract managers and senior managers across the council and with our partners.

This Roles are expected to work across a range of category areas – which will include People based services, Public Health and Place, to build credibility by demonstrating a high level of Procurement knowledge and expertise.

Responsible for a portfolio of projects and high-value tenders, you will produce analysis and strategies that enable the very best quality goods, services and works projects to be sourced, with value for money and consideration of social value and climate change. 

You will see your work making a real difference for people in Gloucestershire. 

 

About You 

 

You could be someone with procurement or commissioning skills and experience. You could have a contract management or maybe even a legal background, within local government or the wider public sector.  

You will have knowledge of public sector procurement procedures and legislation, a strong commercial background, along with extensive eProcurement systems experience.

Highly organised and analytical, with excellent IT skills, you’ll be ready to meet demanding targets, timescales and budgets. You may have a category specialism already, but these roles will give you opportunity to further develop this and broaden your skill set into other category areas. 

You will require excellent communication and influencing skills, deploying these as a confident, adaptable, self-starter. Previous experience of working in a large, complex organisation will be an advantage.

As the true strategic partner, you will build strong and effective relationships, to influence and drive the business priorities forward.
