Looking for a new teaching experience?  Flexible working?  Looking to be part of a fantastic team of teachers and support staff working with children on a small group or one to one basis? At Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service outreach we work with children from the ages of 5-16 from across the county who are too ill to attend their main school.  Our key role is to continue with as much education as they can manage until they are well enough to transition back to their main school or new setting.

Within the outreach team we deliver teaching either in the home, at our classroom in Cheltenham or online.  Teaching staff can work from home when delivering online lessons, but also drive across the county to teach students in the home, so the working week can be hugely varied and very different from teaching in a main school.

At present we are looking for outstanding and experienced teachers who are looking for a more flexible casual contract but we would consider a fixed-term contract for the right candidate until the end of the academic year. During the year the number of students we work with increases and we need to expand our teaching team to accommodate them.  As we hit exam season and our Year 11s leave, that number drops, and we prioritise teaching back to our permanent teachers.  At the moment we would really like you to apply if you can offer 3 or more days teaching, with the ability to go to 5 days when required, and are experienced in the following subjects: KS4 Science, KS4 English Language.    Teaching at KS4 is mostly online delivery but also includes some face to face in the home or at our outpatients classroom in Cheltenham.

Candidates will need to hold a full driving licence and have use of a car. We require all staff to have business insurance for their car.

Teaching staff are paid on the Unattached Teacher’s Pay Scale, which is virtually identical to the main pay scale.  We work on a claims basis.  Staff claim for hours taught, given ppa and travel time, and also claim their mileage.  Full training and induction package given, which can also be claimed for.

The role is not suitable for ECTs or those in their first two years of teaching.
