We are seeking a van driver to come and join our small team! 

 

Gloucestershire Equipment Loan Service (GELS) has an exciting opportunity for a full time Logistic Officer (Two Person Crew) position in our team, based in Hempsted, Gloucester. 

  

About the Role: 

 

GELS plays an important role in supporting the care sector in Gloucestershire. We are responsible for the distribution, delivery, collection, maintenance and minor adaptations of medical and telecare equipment to support people being discharged from hospital and to help people to remain independent in their own home.  The service is delivered on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council and One Gloucestershire.  

 

This role includes driving, manual handling, fitting and installing medical equipment and working collaboratively with an assistant as part of a Two Person Crew. We make deliveries and collections across the county from our base in Hempsted, Gloucester. 

 

You will be required to safely lift, carry and install equipment, such as bariatric beds, hoists, shower chairs and walking frames, in people’s homes. 

 

Other responsibilities include: 

 

  • Prepare the van for operation by inspecting its general condition, safety checks, checking fluid levels and tyre pressure, and obtaining or scheduling repairs with the transport team 

  • Load the van to deliver and collect in the most effective and efficient way 

  • Ensure equipment collections are undertaken appropriately and additional items are added in the field  

  • Ensure infection control and personal protections guidelines are adhered to when undertaking your role 

  • Work with wider team colleagues to resolve issues 

  • Fit and install equipment as detailed by health prescribers 

 

This is an interesting and varied role within an established and supportive team, making a difference to people in Gloucestershire. 

 

About You: 

 

We are looking for someone who is an experienced van driver with excellent driving skills and good geographical knowledge of Gloucestershire. The ideal candidate will have experience in: 

 

  • Multi-drop van deliveries and collections 

  • Fitting or installing equipment 

  • Working in a customer facing role 

  • Warehouse procedures 

  • Working with people with complex needs 

 

You will need a full UK driving licence and this role is subject to a DBS check.
