About The Team & Role


Here at Gloucestershire County Council, we have a new and exciting opportunity for a self-driven professional to join our team at Gloucestershire County Council as Head of Regulatory Services. You will embark on an exciting challenge of implementing, managing, and monitoring infringements and services cases for criminal prosecution and civil litigation. As a vital member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact acting as legal Disclosure Officer and collaboratively working with internal and external partners. 


In this role, you will report to the Deputy Chief Fire Officer, taking charge of developing and reviewing strategies, policies and procedures to account for current trends in the trading marketplace, ensuring that our council achieves the desired needs of the residents and strategic goals. 

 

As the Head of Regulatory Services, you will have the chance to make a lasting impact on the service efficacy within Gloucestershire. This will be achieved by your depth of knowledge, strategic understanding, highly tuned leadership skills, and the ability to drive change, ensuring that the Trading Standards Team is effectively managed and motivated to meet operational and functional requirements. 

 

About you


By joining our team as Head of Regulatory Services, you will the freedom to bring innovative working methods to the table and explore opportunities for additional revenue generation. 


As a member of our senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding services, leading customer-focused teams and your exceptional team management skills will contribute to nurturing a positive and collaborative work environment. Your ability to think on your feet and be flexible in approach to service demands, across the whole of the County will be an advantage. 


You will be an experienced and enthusiastic leader with a track record of managing at a senior level, making significant contribution to the delivery of strategic priorities. The successful applicant will act as professional lead for the service, with a balance of line management and operational service, ensuring that staff provide a high quality and effective service in a cost effective and efficient manner. 


You’ll also have a proven track record of effective decision-making and be personally resilient. Ideally, you will be educated to diploma level in Trading standards, Consumer Affairs or equivalent with an in-depth knowledge from working in trading standards.
