Working with the specialist team of Qualified Teachers for the Visually Impaired and Qualified Teacher for Multi-Sensory Impairment, and with the wider Advisory Teaching Team, under the guidance of the Lead Advisory Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, timely assessments and outcome-focused interventions tailored to each young person’s needs. You’ll play a key role in planning, reviewing, and coordinating support with families, schools, and professionals, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach. About You
You will need to bring a strong background in habilitation work, with experience supporting children and young people with diagnosed visual impairments, including those with additional needs.
You’ll be confident in delivering structured, goal-oriented training programmes and skilled in conducting specialist assessments and risk evaluations. A collaborative communicator, you’ll work effectively with families, education staff, and multi-agency teams to deliver coordinated, impactful support.
In addition to a recognised habilitation qualification, you should have a sound understanding of current SEND legislation and safeguarding practices, be proficient in using ICT tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel and be committed to continuous professional development. The ability to travel across the county is essential, as is a clear dedication to promoting the welfare and independence of children and young people.
