About The Team & Role
Gloucestershire Employment and Skills Hub offers a one-stop source of information, advice, guidance and support around employment and skills. Working with a range of partners and employers in localities across Gloucestershire the Hub delivers 1:1 support through a number of programmes for people with barriers to sustaining or retaining work, as well as advice and signposting for any resident looking for help.
We are looking for a person who has experience working with individuals to support them in gaining employment. You will be part of a team that is vibrant and diverse, so a passion for inclusive employment will be essential. This is an exciting role, and your opportunity to have a substantial influence on the shape and delivery of the participant journey.
The Employment Adviser role involves delivering tailored advice, guidance, and one-to-one support to individuals recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction. These individuals are engaged in a recovery programme and require assistance in accessing employment opportunities through the new Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Drugs and Alcohol Service. You will support people in recovery to secure and sustain paid employment. This includes engaging with local employers to understand their workforce needs and aligning these with the skills and capabilities of the individuals you support.
You will be working across Gloucestershire based in drug and alcohol recovery team sites, so DBS clearance is required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, enthusiastic, and self-motivated, with the ability to build strong and effective relationships with service users, welfare providers, employers, other GCC teams, as well as families and carers. You should be customer-focused and ideally have experience supporting individuals who face barriers to employment. A good understanding of employment policies, procedures, and welfare services is desirable, along with the ability to develop insight into local labour market trends. This will enable you to work effectively with employers to align their recruitment needs with the strengths and potential of the individuals you support.
If you’re passionate about making a difference, able to build meaningful connections, and motivated to help others achieve independence through employment, we encourage you to apply. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in empowering people within the community through guidance and support.
Experience of working with a fidelity model is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. You must be customer focussed and ideally have knowledge of employment policies, procedures and welfare services; including the ability to develop your understanding of local labour-market demographics; enabling you to work with local employers to match their needs to the abilities of individuals. We offer a supportive, well-established team environment and regular ongoing training and supervision.
