Why we believe you might want to join our service

The Detail

We align our service values with the recent BPS Campaign (October 2024) for equitable access to EPs in England.

We seek to:

  • Ensure every maintained education setting has a linked Educational Psychologist based in their local authority, that is free at the point of delivery, where they can have maximum impact working in partnership with colleagues in education, health and social care;
  • Place greater focus on measures to retain Educational Psychologists working in local authority employment, alongside a fully funded and costed workforce plan to enable equitable delivery of educational psychology services;
  • Have a holistic perspective of the positioning of SEND within the wider education system to enable increased focus on early intervention and preventative support for children and families and a truly inclusive education system

We believe that psychologists are best effective when they are in schools/settings with enough time to do a range of work.  As such, we have moved to a planning/consultation model offering a wide core offer to all schools and settings in the county - alongside the establishment of a comprehensive workforce development offer and strategic projects.

We have strategic initiatives which include mental health in schools; ELSA and ELKLAN, promoting functional skills and independence for young people.

To allow us to be the service we want to be, we have received funding to increase the size of the EPS.  We are recruiting to a number of additional EP posts across the county.

The recruitment is intended to allow EPs to spend more time in schools and settings building relationship and inclusion by working on bringing about change rather than documenting needs, as well as promoting projects and wider application of psychology within education.

We are looking for innovative and solution focused EPs, committed to consultation to join us and be part of this journey. They will have a firm commitment to the delivery of children’s workforce development and development support for parents.

We can offer:

  • The opportunity to work in an exciting and growing consultation service with scope to deliver a range of different work as part of your service to schools and wider community
  • A variety of work in both rural and urban settings in a fantastic part of the country
  • A strong CPD programme and training opportunities
  • A strong induction support package
  • An established programme of professional supervision and peer support
  • A range of generic and specialist work within the 0-25 age range in all types of educational settings
  • We pay of Soulbury Scale 5-10 (+3 SPA points)
  • Offer a welcome package including recruitment and retention payment* (currently pending)
