About the Role &Team

 

The Education Safeguarding Officer will work under the direction of the Education Safeguarding Lead and will be part of the wider MASH Education Team. The Education Safeguarding Officer prepares responses to safeguarding concerns, investigating those concerns thoroughly and appropriately, quality assuring setting investigations and their findings for the Council, settings and related professionals alongside being allocated settings to monitor their responses to required actions.

The postholder will work closely with the MASH Education team, the Education representative on the MASH Board, with Local Area Designated Officers, the internal Education Service Area Safeguarding responsibility holders, the safeguarding traded services officers, the GSCP business unit and senior leaders in schools as part of providing clear and coherent reporting, recording and responding to safeguarding matters. 

 

About You

 

The Education Safeguarding officer will have a thorough understanding of legislation and statutory guidance and be able to fulfil the Council’s duty to ensure all education settings comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education and related statutory safeguarding requirements on education settings.

The successful candidate will have experience of the education system and legislative framework (as mentioned above). Undertaken the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead in an appropriate setting or extensive experience of working with schools, including work on attendance and related issues. Working with children, young people and families. Experience in relevant sectors which have led to positive outcomes for children, young people and families
