About the Team and Role:  

The role of Development Officer (Family Focus) will be one of four Development Officers within the Gloucestershire Libraries team. Each Development Officer leads on a specific remit and audience profile.  The main target age group for this role is early years children and their families, aimed at spending quality time with families and communities to increase social connection and using creativity as a theme for reduction of anxiety and improvement of mental health.  

The Development Officer will work within the Development Team with very clear aims and objectives of the role which will include:    

-Marketing and communications planning for all aspects of the library service related to Children’s & Families (alongside the Librarian)  

-Income generation through donations and support with other forms of income with the other Development Officers (memberships, trusts and grant applications) 

-Development, promotion and continuation of the countywide initiative for Library Littles  with communities, partners, funding, and communications Launch and develop the new initiative of a children's choir in 2026 

 

About you: 

We are seeking someone who has had previous experience of projects and project management, as this is an important element at the centre of the role. Other experience that is relevant and essential includes:  

-Marketing, communications and branding. We do a lot of design and development in-house so some hands-on creative skills will be an important element  

-Income generation. All projects are self-funded so some awareness and knowledge of trust and foundations, donations and legacies.  

-Data and insights. As projects are very audience/customer driven – we are looking for someone who has a clear understanding of reporting and interpreting data   

On top of these elements, a proactive, positive team player with a vision and understanding of this specific age group and target audience.
