About The Team

We are building a procurement and contracts team that is forward-thinking, collaborative, and confident in driving change.

Our vision is to create a function that’s not just about compliance but about adding real value to our stakeholders. We want to be known for our ability to solve problems creatively, influence outcomes, and deliver smarter, more sustainable solutions for the communities we serve.

This is a time of transformation for Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service. That means we need people who are comfortable with change, who bring fresh ideas, and who are ready to contribute. Whether you're leading complex tenders or supporting contract delivery, you will be part of a team that’s empowered to make a difference.

We’re investing in our people, our processes, and our partnerships. We believe that great procurement is about more than buying well. It’s about building trust, driving innovation, and delivering public value.

About you

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the future of procurement at Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service?

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and enjoys working with people to solve problems through smart, practical, and pragmatic thinking. You’ll bring a solid foundation in procurement, commissioning, or contract management, and be confident working independently on day-to-day procurement and contract tasks, while collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders. This is a valued role that offers the chance to build on your experience, take on meaningful projects, and grow within a supportive team.

You’ll be a key contributor to our procurement activity, supporting stakeholders with practical advice and helping shape commercial approaches that align with our “Working Together for a Safer Gloucestershire” vision. You’ll be trusted to support and lead quotations and tenders, and to help stakeholders manage their contracts throughout the lifecycle -from planning through to performance monitoring and renewal.

What you will Be Doing

  • Leading quotations, tender and category projects.
  • Advising on frameworks, specifications, evaluation criteria, KPIs, and contract terms.
  • Conducting market research and benchmarking.
  • Tracking contract milestones, renewals, and expiry dates using the contract register/ pipeline. Managing supplier relationships, monitoring contract performance, and reporting.
  • Working closely with commissioners and procurement leads.
  • Maximising social value.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in procurement, commissioning, or contract management.
  • Strong IT, systems, communication, and stakeholder skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and diligence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • A tenacious, initiative-taking approach with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Confidence in managing the contract lifecycle.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a supportive, values-led team.
  • Comfortable working in a small team environment, showing flexibility and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed to support shared goals.

Not sure which role is the right fit?

If you're interested in both the Senior Procurement Officer and Contracts Officer roles but are not sure which one aligns best with your experience, we’d still love to hear from you. Feel free to apply for both. We're building a team with a range of strengths, and your contribution could be just what we need.
