About the team and the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Assistant to join the Access and Engagement Team at Gloucestershire Archives, based at the Heritage Hub. We are looking for a dynamic, positive and committed individual who will play a key role in the day-to-day operations and the development and promotion of our events and learning and outreach programme.
About you
We will need you to:
Support the work of the Archive Service, by effectively communicating our engagement activities and events. Assist with feedback, evaluation and the promotion of success using infographics and visually effective methods.
Help us to participate in Council-wide campaigns and promotions using archive resources.
Maintain regular social media messages as directed by the Archive Access and Engagement Manager and Collections Team, making sure they are relevant, reactive and within agreed guidelines.
Support Gloucestershire Archives Management Team (GAMT) in seeking new ways of developing and delivering services which embrace new technologies. Work in partnerships with council colleagues, communities, partners, and volunteers to ensure effective communication.
Support the Service with the delivery of our website, maintaining relevant copy and images.
Send regular e-communications to our database of customers, volunteers and heritage partners and actively seek ways to increase our subscribers. Assist with the Heritage Hub and Heritage schools e-newsletters as required.
Contribute to the frontline service as required, welcoming all visitors to the Heritage Hub at Reception, giving information about available resources, registering new customers wishing to access the research room, overseeing the use of original documents, fetching items from the strongrooms and replacing them after use, in accordance with professionally recognised standards
Take payments from visitors buying items from the Archives and Gloucestershire Registration Service
Assist with the appraisal and listing of local studies material, under the direction of a member of the Collections Team
Follow all operational processes and procedures required in the delivery of activities and resources that make archives accessible to all
