Would you like to work in a role which is both meaningful and rewarding, where you really feel that you make a difference?  Do you constantly look for ways to improve the way you work and enhance the service that you deliver?  If so, this is the perfect role for you.

This is a great time to be part of Gloucestershire County Council, as Children’s Social Care is on an exciting journey, which focuses our approach into being more creative, strengths-based and person-centred, to ensure that we work together to ‘Make a Difference’ to our local communities.

We are an agile working organisation with a combination of office-based working and working from home (essential equipment is provided).  We place a high premium on diversity and inclusion, as well as on health and wellbeing and we offer a flexible working scheme which is based on business need.  We offer Continued Professional Development and will support you to develop your skills and career prospects within Children’s Services.

 About the Team and Role

In Children’s Services we have a number of panels, each looking at the needs of a child for a different reason. These panels may be the decision makers on an intervention or commitment of funding.  Made up of internal staff and some partners, these panels can be complex to coordinate.

We are looking for a Business Improvement Officer with a strong coordination background to work across our service to develop and implement consistent and high quality coordination and oversight to our panel process to support senior leaders to have increased oversight of care planning and practice, clear decision making and governance.

About You

We are looking for someone who can champion digital approaches, deliver change and training and track improvement work.  The role will have a strong focus on training and upskilling the workforce with a primary focus on digital initiatives and improvements.  You will be expected to keep up to date with changes in digital solutions and review processes accordingly.

About Us

In return we will offer you:

  • Regular formal and informal support.
  • Safe, supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision.
  • Access to relevant training and career progression.
  • Annual leave of 25.5 days (pro rata) up to 30.5 days (pro rata) after 5 years employment.
  • The opportunity to purchase additional annual leave up to a maximum of 10 days (pro rata).
  • Family friendly employer offering benefits to support you and your family.
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Staff discount scheme that offers access to great savings including discounts with major supermarket chains and high street retailers.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone.
  • An in-house Occupational Health service.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Links to employee networks such as Prism (LGBT+) network and the Young Employees Network.
  • Gloucestershire Salary Sacrifice Green Car Scheme (T&C's apply).

Working in Children’s Social Care does require an applicant who can be proactive or responsive to changing demands and resilient to some of the tough emotional content of the role. However, it is also a role that can bring great reward and job satisfaction.
