About the Role and Team

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in Gloucestershire Highways working in our Street Lighting team assisting in the highway authority’s role to assert and protect the street lighting assets located on the public highway and to maintain and secure improvements to these assets.

 

Gloucestershire has street lighting assets of 70,000 across diverse landscapes including the Cotswolds, the Forest of Dean and Severn Vale. The County Council is looking to recruit an Assistant Engineer – New Developments who will look after the technical approvals for third party street lighting design submissions and to undertake on-site inspections of new street lighting equipment installed by third parties on new developments for adoption by the council.

 

About You

The ideal applicant will be a self-starter who is familiar with technical approval processes  for third party, street lighting design submissions, street lighting equipment specifications and electrical installations. You will be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with internal and external parties to provide technical approval for street lighting designs and to complete inspections of new equipment installed by third parties and to be adopted by the council. You will be required to work alone and as part of a wider team. Providing an excellent level of customer service to internal and external customers through face to face, informal and formal written and verbal communications.You should have experience dealing with a wide range of people and stakeholders, working within legal obligations and best practice recommendations to deliver best value street lighting installations.
