PLEASE NOTE: This role is permanently based at the Arle Court Transport Hub located on the A40 at the end of the Golden Valley.
About the team and the role
The Arle Court Transport Hub is a major upgrade to the previous Park & Ride site with a new multi storey car park, customer facilities hub, a large EV car charging station, bus station and coach park. It’s plays a significant part in improving public transport in the area bringing with it carbon reductions for Cheltenham & Gloucestershire. The Hub now provides an enhanced park and ride service to Cheltenham Town Centre the well-established service 99 to both Cheltenham General and Gloucester Royal Hospitals and is also a calling point for the UK express coach network.
We are seeking individuals that enjoy helping and supporting members of the public as you will be their point of contact and the public face of the Council. Many users will be visitors from outside of the area and will greatly appreciate support during their visit. Your role will also include tasks to ensure that the site operates to its best potential including unlocking gates and barriers, gritting any icy surfaces, testing fire alarms, supporting facility management tasks etc.
The role will be part of a customer focussed, self-sufficient, task orientated team that strives to provide an excellent service and fulfils the day-to-day operation of the facility. As a Transport Hub Officer you will oversee the safe operation of the site, direct and support customers and your working day will be split between customer service and facilities management. You will also be required to support the council bus pass team with new applications and renewals. The team will provide timely feedback to the ITU Management in relation to the operation of the hub highlighting any issues or potential areas for improvements or growth, respond positively to customer feedback and undertake improvement actions.
About you
Customer service experience is key to the role and you will need a good level of IT skills to enable you to find answers to customers questions. You will need to be able to work without continuous supervision but demonstrate via the systems provided that the required tasks have been completed, you will occasionally be called upon for additional hours of working to cover colleagues leave, support key events and customer’s travel plans.
