Area Finance Manager - Term Time Only

We’re looking for a forward‑thinking finance leader to strengthen our traded service, grow market share and champion exceptional customer experience across schools and academies. As the Area Finance Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead a well established team that support schools across the county with expert financial guidance and training.

 

About the Team & Role

As the Area Finance Manager, you will lead an established and experienced team that supports schools across Gloucestershire with high‑quality financial advice. You will oversee the delivery of a modern, efficient and commercially sustainable traded finance service—ensuring strong customer relationships, excellent service quality and continued market growth.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership across all core school finance activities, including budget planning, year‑end, financial systems and risk management. You will also shape and quality‑assure our finance training offer for Headteachers, Governors and school staff, ensuring it remains accurate, relevant and sector‑aligned. This is a Term Time Only position

A key focus will be developing your team: setting clear expectations, driving continuous improvement and supporting professional growth so the service remains confident, capable and future‑ready.

You will represent the service with senior leaders, contribute to oversight of schools causing concern, and use customer insight to help evolve our traded offer. This role is ideal for an experienced finance leader who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent relationship‑building, commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering great customer experience.

 

About You

You’ll be an experienced finance professional with a strong background in school or public‑sector finance, confident leading teams and delivering high‑quality financial services. Commercially aware and customer‑focused, you build strong relationships, provide clear strategic advice and support effective decision‑making. You bring strong analytical skills, excellent communication and a proactive, forward‑thinking approach to improving services and supporting schools.
