We are looking for those who will quickly understand the Gloucestershire context and can display their expertise and solid professional experience in achieving ambitious targets. Relationship management will be fundamental and will be based on first class communication and negotiation skills combined with commercial acumen. Whilst it may be beneficial to have local authority, civil engineering and construction experience, you must also have the skills to work across varied disciplines such as public liaison, legal, property and communications knowing your subject area well so that you will be actively contributing from day one.

 

The work will be intense and fast paced; we will expect you to think on your feet and be ready to tackle challenges to grow the County’s vision.

About the Team and Role

 

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge managing construction projects within the Local Major Projects Team. You will be responsible for delivering a large and varied portfolio of projects including major active travel schemes, major improvements schemes and network upgrades.

 

As a Construction Manager, you will be the client’s construction representative managing works activities and co-ordinating, managing and reporting on the delivery and handover of some of the most ambitious schemes the County has ever undertaken.

 

About You

 

You will have experience of managing complex major highways projects in a local authority context, working with contractors and managing staff to deliver successful outcomes. We are looking for a driven individual, who takes ownership for their actions and setting a positive tone with the team.

 

You should have relevant experience in highways, civil engineering construction as well as a proven record of managing complex projects. The successful applicant should have a strong financial acumen, communication skills and an understanding of the political context.
