About the team and the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Registration Service Manager to oversee the development and delivery of Gloucestershire Registration Service. You will work closely with one other Service Manager, the Operations Manager, and the Head of Library & Registration services as a vital part of the Senior Management Team. You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of registration services in Gloucestershire.
You will be accountable for ensuring all statutory requirements are met as required by legislation whilst ensuring customer service excellence is delivered in all areas of the business.
The busy service provides the public with statutory and non-statutory services relating to major life events and employs over 130 staff.
You will have proven experience of effectively leading & managing large teams within local government or in a large busy customer facing environment. You will ensure staff receive appropriate training and development opportunities to thrive, whilst managing performance issues where necessary and according to Gloucestershire County Councils policies and procedures.
In this role you will seek out income generating opportunities and contribute to the development of new business initiatives. You will implement Gloucestershire County Council and Statutory policy changes, actioning service reviews to improve and expand service delivery. You will drive continuous improvement and efficiencies within the service and embrace new technologies. You will collaborate with council colleagues, communities, partners, local businesses, and volunteers. You will take responsibility for ensuring teams work within the council’s values and behaviours framework.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate strong experience in effective people management and managing staff through change. You should have a track record of leading and managing staff in resource-constrained environments.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and strong IT/digital skills.
You will lead by example, demonstrating the councils’ values and behaviours framework. You will be open to embracing and learning new challenges. You must be customer-focused, a team player committed to continuous improvement, and emotionally resilient.
The job profile will be regularly reviewed, and the council reserves the right to amend or add to the accountabilities.
Special conditions: To provide out of hours support , evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays as and when required to assist the service. You need to hold a current full driving licence which is valid for driving in the UK as you will be required to travel to Approved Premises and Registration Offices throughout Gloucestershire
