Our Vision: Gloucestershire’s vision is “to give every child the best possible chance of a remarkable life, especially those children who are disadvantaged and vulnerable.”

We have ambitious improvement and transformation plans to create the optimum conditions within which our staff can make a real difference and improve outcomes for children.

Reward & Support: Here’s what we offer in return for your hard work. A generous pay and reward programme including:

•    Competitive pay

•    Employee Benefits Programme
•    Annual Leave entitlement of 24.5 days rising to 29.5 days after 5 years continuous service.

We also offer all children’s social care staff a clearly defined career pathway with support and encouragement from management for individuals to fulfil their potential. Throughout your time at Gloucestershire, you can expect a high level of challenge and support from management.

Your Team: The Community Social Work (CSW) team consists of a Team Manager and eight Community Social Workers who provide a service across the county. The team seeks to provide advice and guidance to practitioners in the community who work with children and families. The team performs a varied role, supporting community practitioners around safeguarding concerns as well as upskilling practitioners in the form of training and peer support.

The CSW team is part of GCC’s Early Help and Targeted Support service and is integral to the Early Help Advice, Guidance and Support provided to community practitioners and partners to ensure practitioners are confident in implementing an early help approach to respond to emerging and escalating need.  Information on aspects of the work the team cover can be found at Glos Families Directory.

Your Role: As a Community Social Worker, you will be instrumental in delivering a first-class service to ensure the best outcomes for the children and young people of Gloucestershire. You will provide the vital link between our social care teams and the Early Help Partnership. You will work with practitioners who are supporting vulnerable children, young people and their families who present with complex needs and where the level of risk is unclear. Part of the role will also include involvement with Early Help to improve outcomes for children and young people and prevent their needs from escalating unnecessarily.

As well as your experience gained over at least 3 years as a frontline Social Worker, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:

•    Social Work England registration
•    A recognised qualification in Social Work
•    To have passed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
•    A full driving license and willingness to drive
•    DBS clearance

You will be joining an authority with a strong set of values that underpins the work we do: Accountability, Empowerment, Excellence, Integrity and Respect. For more information about our values, please click here
